It’s finally Spring in Maine. While much of the rest of the country was showing off the first blooms of the season weeks ago, and I even saw poppies blooming on a friend’s feed (gasp) we’re usually getting a random snow storm the week we pull out our patio furniture. So, when the blooms start popping in earnest - the daffodils and forsythia make their arrival in shades of yellow so bright that they almost almost hurt my eyes, it felt like a transfusion of pure life force.

++ I’m doing something extra special for our Substackers this week. If you sign up for an Annual Subscription to The Edit With Nicole and place an order at NAHLA, send us a message with your email address and order number and I’ll make sure a bottle of our glorious Fleuressence African Nectar (one of my all time favorite things we make) is included with your order. I don’t know how much longer we’ll be doing these little gifts with subscriptions but it sure does feel like a nice way to thank you for your support of NAHLA and The Edit With Nicole.

1. Thicker Than A Bowl Of Oatmeal

This week, as I rolled out my new, mauve, outrageously plush yoga mat, all I could think about was this video and why in the world did I not buy this thing sooner? It’s like working out on a cloud.

2. Gratitude Is Healing

Sometimes when I’m in production at NAHLA on a hectic day, I question how sane it is to produce a 50 product collection that is entirely handmade and hand bottled, then capped, polished and labeled (yes, by hand) before being packed up with love by an actual human, who looks at what you ordered and where you live and chooses just the right free samples we think you’ll love best before sending it out into the world. It’s such a time consuming process - some products take more than two months to make from start to finish when you factor in all the extracting and fermentation. But then I spent a morning making Bio Renewal Corrective Masque while I listened to a podcast.

And afterwards, I sat down at my desk to read a message from a customer who has dyshidrotic eczema and told me how our regimen, Fleuressence African Nectar in particular, completely healed it. It was so kind and generous that tears sprang to my eyes and every ounce of the hard work that goes into what we do here felt validated. Thank you to the people who make time to thank the small businesses that make their world a little better. It means more than you know and we love you for it.
